Womens Basketball Student Athlete FAQ

About MATC -   We are the Midwest's largest and most innovative two-year community-based technical college. About 58,000 students enroll each year in thousands of classes during the day, evening, weekends and online. The four major campuses are located in Downtown Milwaukee, Mequon, Oak Creek and West Allis. Each campus offers full degree, diploma and certificate programs in over 170 career and academic areas.

About MATC Athletics - We are a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (Division III), comprised of junior colleges across the country. We are also a member of the Wisconsin Junior College Athletic Association and the Wisconsin Technical College Conference.

MATC Basketball -   The varsity basketball team competes each winter. Conditioning for the team starts September 1 and practices begin October 1. The game schedule typically begins November 1.  An average schedule is two to three games per week through the middle of February when the playoffs begin. MATC's post-season consists of two tournaments. The first is the NJCAA Tournament. Wisconsin schools that participate in the NJCAA compete to represent the region at the district and national tournaments. The second is the WJCAA State Tournament.  The WTCC Conference Champion advances to playoffs against two of the UW-Center schools for the state championship. In 2004, MATC won the Wisconsin Technical College Conference. At this time, recruiting is done in the local area.

Facilities -   The Stormer basketball program practices at the Pal Center located at 24th and Burleigh, and all games are played at Alverno College located at 39th and Morgan in Milwaukee. Indoor fitness facilities and the coaching offices are located at the Downtown Milwaukee Campus.

Student Eligibility -   All MATC varsity student athletes are required to have minimum enrollment and grade point standards. You must fill out an Athletic Eligibility Form in the athletic office, Room M14 of the Main Building at the Downtown Campus. If you have attended other colleges before MATC, we will need a copy of your full transcripts to determine your athletic eligibility.

Physicals - All student athletes MUST have a physician?s clearance before they may practice or compete in athletics. Using your own physician is preferred, but if you need a physician, MATC?s Health Center is available. More details are provided on the Athletic Eligibility Form.

Contact - For more information, contact Carrie Grulke, MATC Athletic Department, 414-297-7872, grulkec@matc.edu, or fax: 414-297-6657.
