Volleyball Student Athlete FAQ

About MATC -   We are the Midwest's largest and most innovative two-year community-based technical college.   About 58,000 students enroll each year in thousands of classes during the day, evening, weekends and online.   The four major campuses are located in Downtown Milwaukee, Mequon, Oak Creek and West Allis.   Each campus offers full degree, diploma, and certificate programs in over 170 educations areas.

About MATC Athletics - We are a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (Division III), comprised of junior colleges across the country.   We are also a member of the Wisconsin Junior College Athletic Association and the Wisconsin Technical College Conference.

MATC Volleyball -   The varsity volleyball team competes in the fall of each year.    Practices may begin August 1 and should start no later than August 15.   The game schedule typically begins the weekend after Labor Day.   An average schedule is 2 matches per week through the third week in October when the playoffs begin.   MATC's post season consists of two tournaments.   The first is the NJCAA Tournament.   Wisconsin schools that participate in the NJCAA compete to represent the region at the district and national tournaments.  The second is the WJCAA State Tournament.  Teams from the Wisconsin Technical College Conference and the Wisconsin Collegiate Conference, playoff for a state champion each year.  In 2003 the MATC Stormers took second place in the Wisconsin Technical College Conference.  At this time recruiting is done in the local area.

Facilities -   The Stormer volleyball program practices either at the Downtown Milwaukee campus or at Alverno College.  Home matches for the volleyball team take place at Alverno College.  Coaching offices are located at the Downtown Milwaukee Campus.

Student Eligibility -   All MATC varsity student athletes are required to have minimum enrollment and grade point standards.  You must fill out an Athletic Eligibility Form in the athletic office which is located in room M14 of the Main Building at the Downtown Campus.  If you have attended any other colleges before coming to MATC, we will need a copy of you full transcripts to determine your athletic eligibility. 

Physicals- All student athletes MUST have a physician?s clearance before they may practice or compete in athletics.  Using your own physician is preferred but if you need a physician MATC?s Health Center is available, their phone number is 414-297-6231.  More details are available in the Athletic Eligibility Form.
