Tool and Die makers build tooling molds and dies used in manufacturing. Students in MATC's four-semester, full-time day program will learn how to use basic tool room machines, interpret engineering drawings and gain basic knowledge of computer numerical control (CNC) programming. Job titles include mold maker, stamping die maker, jig and fixture builder, toolroom machinist and precision machinist. The second year of the program offers three options: stamping die and mold making, special die making, or special mold making. There is a high demand for skilled tool and die makers, and MATC has an excellent placement record for its graduates. Core skills include the ability to work independently, mechanical aptitude, math skills and pride in craftsmanship.
