The Paralegal degree program focuses on preparing you for employment as a legal assistant. Under the supervision of an attorney, the legal assistant/paralegal conducts client interviews, obtains case information, performs legal research, and prepares and files legal documents and court papers. Positions are available in private law offices, governmental agencies and legal departments of banks and other businesses. The MATC program is flexible, with classes running days and evenings. Coursework provides you with a broad background in legal procedures and focuses on practical rather than theoretical aspects of law. Core skills include the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, above-average written and verbal communication, and tact. Computer literacy is helpful.
