The Interior Design program offers two options to prepare you for a career designing residential and commercial interiors. The Foundations option provides the basic skills needed to work as an interior designer. Coursework includes architectural drawing, space planning, kitchen design, computer-aided drafting and sales techniques. The Specializations option prepares you for employment in commercial design such as health care interiors, corporate facilities, and hotel/resort interiors. Kitchens and health care facilities provide the greatest employment opportunities. Graduates may be employed by design studios, furniture stores, commercial distributorships and architectural firms. Art, drafting, speech and computer courses are helpful. Core skills include communication ability, attention to detail and self motivation.
