Electricity is a two-semester diploma program that focuses on preparing you for entry-level electrician positions in industry and the building trades. You will be expected to use meters to check electrical circuits, do basic calculations, perform mechanical operations such as conduit bending and wiring, and read blueprints. Positions available to program graduates include electrician's helper and wholesale electrical parts distribution worker. Core skills include normal physical strength, good manual dexterity, and the ability to climb without fear of heights. Good vision, including color perception, is important. Completion of this program does not substitute for an electrical apprenticeship, but offers you the basic knowledge needed to begin working for electrical contractors.
