Computer Electronics Technology is an associate degree program that prepares you for a technical career in the computer field. You will learn to operate, install, upgrade and maintain microcomputers, peripheral devices and network hardware. You also will develop software programs using the most popular operating systems (DOS, Windows and UNIX) and programming languages. This degree program is designed to provide a blend of hands-on learning in both computer hardware and software. Employers in the rapidly expanding computer field are searching for specialists in both. Typical job titles include microcomputer technician, microcomputer software support, PC/network (LAN) specialist, microcomputer specialist, customer service technician, applications programmer and installation specialist. Core skills include problem-solving ability, effective communication, manual dexterity and mechanical and mathematical aptitude.
