2008-09 Course Requirements

Architectural Woodworking/Cabinetmaking is a two-semester technical diploma program that prepares you for employment in cabinet shops, millwork shops, furniture factories, display shops and maintenance shops. Employers expect you to read blueprints, make detailed drawings, assemble parts and operate machinery commonly used in the woodworking trade. The employment outlook is very favorable, especially for those with current training. The types of positions available include cabinetmaker, saw operator, shaper operator, machine operator, millworker and detailer. Core skills: good eye-hand coordination, safety consciousness, good spatial visualization and manual dexterity. High school woodworking courses are encouraged.
