Teacher Education Program
If you plan to pursue a career as a teacher, MATC's Teacher Education Program allows you to fulfill the first two years of requirements for a bachelor's degree and/or license in education.
Some of the colleges and universities to which MATC students can transfer to pursue careers in teaching:
- Alverno College
- Carroll College
- Cardinal Stritch University
- Lakeland College
- Marquette University
- Mount Mary College
- UW-Milwaukee
- UW-Oshkosh
- UW-Whitewater
To pursue a career as a teacher starting at MATC:
- Complete the MATC Admissions process. Attend Student Orientation, where you'll be assigned a counselor who explain how to enter the Teacher Education Program.
Full admissions requires: 1. Completion of following courses with a "C" or better: SOCSCI 249, ENG 201, any other 3 Credit 200 level course 2. A 2.5 Program GPA
- After you've been admitted to the program, meet with your advisor at least once a semester to select courses.
- Earn your Associate Degree in Liberal Arts, Teacher Education from MATC, including four teacher preparation courses (ten credits).
- Complete the reading, mathematics, and writing areas of the Pre professional Skills Test (PPST) successfully.
- Complete your Associate Degree with at least a 2.5 GPA.
- Apply to the School of Education at one of the cooperating four-year colleges.
- Upon successful completion of the program, you'll receive a bachelor's degree in education and will be eligible to apply for a Wisconsin State teaching license.
