Info Sessions Spotlight Next-Wave Careers

OAK CREEK (Feb. 8, 2008) – For prospective students and their parents, Milwaukee Area Technical College has begun a new series of information sessions called STEM Nights, exploring next-wave careers involving science, technology, engineering and math. Attendees also will receive a tour of the Center for Energy Conservation and Advanced Manufacturing (ECAM), and participate in hands-on activities. Each session highlights a different emerging technology. STEM Nights are held on Wednesdays, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m., in the ECAM building at the Oak Creek Campus, 6665 S. Howell Ave. Admission is free, and refreshments will be served. Upcoming topics include:

● March 19 – “TV’s Digital Future,” presented by Ellis Bromberg, general manager of Milwaukee Public Television. Bromberg also serves as MATC’s dean of Television and Video Production and is overseeing MPTV’s transition to digital broadcasting. He has more than 30 years experience in public television management at stations in Illinois, New York and Milwaukee.

● April 16 – “Engineering is Everywhere,” presented by Aimee L. Davis, instructor in mechanical design; and Terese M. Dressel, instructor in civil engineering technology. Before joining MATC’s faculty, Davis worked in product design and testing; and Dressel was a structural engineer who designed structural steel buildings, focusing on light-gage design for commercial and industrial buildings.

These sessions are open to all, but you must register in advance. Please call or e-mail Caryn Dohring, (414) 571-4703 or dohringc@matc.edu.
