Governor Doyle to attend 'A Salute to Manufacturing
Initiatives' in Cedarburg
Milwaukee Area Technical College, the Ozaukee Economic Development Corporation and Federal Tool and Engineering, are hosting 'A Salute to Manufacturing Initiatives' that will feature Wisconsin Governor James Doyle on Tuesday, July 29, from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m., at Federal Tool and Engineering, N52 W5338 Portland Rd., Cedarburg.
The program will recognize the first graduates from the Manufacturing Skills Standards Certification program and highlight state, regional and local programs that focus on manufacturing. The Manufacturing Skills Standards Certification is a new national program that awards a "Certified Production Technician" credential to individuals who pass four production modules: Safety, Quality Practices and Measurements, Manufacturing Processes and Production; and Maintenance Awareness. This training and certification creates workers who are flexible, easily trainable, and highly motivated for next-generation manufacturing firms.
Federal Tool and Engineering will be certifying four employees as CPTs and three other employees will receive partial certification. Two of the four certified CPTs are women and represent 50% of the females who have received the CPT designation in the State of Wisconsin.
In addition to Governor Doyle, other individuals scheduled to speak are Dave Tomczek, President, and Steve Moyer, Executive Vice President of Federal Tool and Engineering; Dr. Michael Townsend, Vice President of the Milwaukee Area Technical College Mequon Campus; and Kathleen Cady-Schilling, Executive Director of the Ozaukee Economic Development Corporation.
The program also will include the presentation of Manufacturing Skills Standards Certification degrees and Welding Certificates to six Federal Tool and Engineering employees who received training through a joint-partnership with Milwaukee Area Technical College.
