On Oct. 20, 2009, CareerWorks, a unique, collaborative partnership opened at Bayshore Town Center in Glendale. The effort seeks to train future workers in retail, hospitality and tourism. In addition to MATC, the Milwaukee Area Workforce Investment Board, Multicultural Community Services, YWCA of Greater Milwaukee, and Bayshore are partners in the initiative.
CareerWorks is located in a 4,000-square-foot facility in the North Promenade. The partnership is unique because the participating organizations have created a one-stop opportunity to prepare potential employees for careers and to match these individuals with possible employers.
CareerWorks offers on-site access to:
- MATC's GED and HSED programs
- Quiet Agent, a state-of-the-art employment matching system
- Interest inventories that help identify career fields for potential employees
- Educational and skills asessments that determine an individual's strengths and areas for improvement
- Short-term training programs that are linked to industry standards and geared toward specific work skills
- Pre-vocational training for individuals who have not previously held jobs
- Assistance with job searches and resume writing
