
Scholarships
The MATC Foundation, Inc. operates a comprehensive range of funds that have been established to support the educational and developmental goals of the college and MATC students. Annually, the Foundation awards a wide range of scholarships to students in all the academic divisions of Milwaukee Area Technical College. Additionally, the Foundation provides institutional grants that support faculty & student achievement, on many levels.
MATC Foundation scholarship funds are available to qualified applicants for educational and education-related needs including:

MATC African-American Male Scholarship Must be an African-American male enrolled in at least six program credits; must have completed 12 credits at MATC; must meet standard criteria of financial need as determined by the Federal Student Financial Aid program; minimum 2.5 GPA. MATC American Federation of Teachers, Local 212 Scholarship Must be enrolled in at least nine program credits; must meet standard criteria of financial need as determined by the Federal Student Financial Aid program; minimum 2.5 GPA. Amount: $500 Deadline: April 15
MATC American Institute of Wine and Food (AIWF) Milwaukee Scholarship Must be enrolled in Culinary Arts, Cook Apprentice*, or in at least nine credits; must have completed 12 program credits; must meet standard criteria of financial need as determined by the Federal Student Financial Aid program; must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. (*Apprentice must be enrolled in at least three credits and have completed at least six credits.) Must submit at least one letter of recommendation from an instructor in their program. MATC Robert Angelvin Memorial Scholarship Must be enrolled in second semester Culinary Arts associate degree program; must be an honors student (3.5+ GPA). Amount: $500 Deadline: April 15
MATC Apitz/Quinnies Culinary Must be enrolled in Culinary Arts or Cook Apprentice*, in at least 9 credits; must have completed 12 program credits; must meet standard criteria of financial need as determined by the Federal Student Financial Aid program; must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. (*Apprentice must be enrolled in at least 3 credits and have completed at least 6 credits.) Student must submit at least one letter of recommendation from an instructor in the program. MATC Tom M. Armour Scholarship Must be enrolled at the Oak Creek Campus in the Auto Body and Paint Technician or Automotive Maintenance Technician program; must currently be enrolled in at least 7 credits. Preference will be given to students currently employed in an automotive-related field. Amount: Varies Deadline: April 15
MATC Awareness Dental Hygiene Scholarship Must be enrolled as a third or fourth semester program student in the Dental Hygiene program; must have completed a minimum of 36 program credits; minimum 3.0 GPA. Amount: $500 Deadline: October 15
MATC Baking Production Scholarship Must be enrolled in the Baking Production program in at least six credits; must have completed 12 program credits; minimum 2.5 GPA. Amount: $500 Deadline: October 15
MATC Bostik Scholarship Must be enrolled in the Chemical Technology program in at least six credits; minimum 2.5 GPA. Amount: $1,000 Deadline: October 15 / April 15
MATC Marion Drake-Breskvar Scholarship Must be enrolled in an associate degree, diploma, or avocational program; must be in their second semester or higher; must be earning personal income at the time of application; must meet standard criteria of financial need as determined by the Federal Student Financial Aid program; minimum 2.5 GPA. Amount: $1,000 Deadline: April 15
MATC Werner and Jermaine Buchel Foundation Scholarship Must be enrolled full-time in the Culinary Arts program. Amount: $500 Deadline: April 15
MATC Beatrice and James Brosick Scholarship Must be enrolled as a program student at MATC West Allis Campus; must have completed a minimum of 12 credits and be currently enrolled in at least nine credits; must have a minimum 2.5 GPA; preference will be given to residents of West Allis who are single parents. Amount: $500 Deadline: April 15
MATC Cooperative Urban Teacher Education Program (TEP) Must be enrolled in the TEP program; must have completed a minimum of 24 program credits; minimum 2.75 GPA. Amount: Varies Deadline: October 15 / April 15
MATC Robert Louis Crymes Memorial Vocational Scholarship Must have a high school diploma or have completed an accredited GED program; must be enrolled in, or have complete, a program offered by one of the collaborative partners; must submit an application, along with an essay detailing their 5-year plan for success; must vow to be drug-free or involved in a treatment or programming that will enhance their chances for success; referrals are made through community based organizations. Amount: $500 Deadline: October 15 / April 15
MATC Delta Dental of Wisconsin Must be a Wisconsin resident enrolled as a full-time student in the Dental Hygiene program and be enrolled as a third or fourth semester program student at the time of the award with a minimum 3.0 GPA; must submit letter of recommendation from an instructor in the Dental Hygiene program. Amount: $750 Deadline: October 15
MATC Dermond Aviation Scholarship Must be either a member of a minority group defined as African American, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, Pacific Islander, Alaskan Native, or female; must be an active student enrolled in the Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) program and have completed the general courses relating to this program; must carry a minimum credit load of 9 credits; must carry a 2.5 GPA or better within the general courses of the program; and must receive a recommendation for an MATC instructor or counselor. MATC Arthur J. Ehne Scholarship Fund Must be enrolled full-time in a Technology & Applied Sciences Division program; must have completed 15 program credits; minimum 2.5 GPA. Amount: $1,000 Deadline: April 15
MATC Mary Eiche Nursing Must be enrolled in Practical Nursing, associate degree Nursing or Nursing Progression program; Associate Degree and Progression students must have completed 15 or 36 required program credits. Practical nursing students must have completed the first semester of the program; all students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 and a program GPA of 2.5; must meet standard criteria of financial need as determined by the Federal Student Financial Aid program. Amount: $500 Deadline: October 15
MATC Embassy Construction Scholarship Must be enrolled and carrying a minimum of 9 credits in one of the following building construction programs: Bricklaying and Masonry; Cabinetmaking and Millwork; Carpentry; Electricity; Construction Electricity; Landscape Horticulture; Architectural Technology; or Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, and Heating. Must have and maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA. Preference will be given to applicants who meet standard criteria of financial need as determined by the Federal Student Financial Aid program. Amount: $500 Deadline: October 15
MATC Embassy Construction Corporation Scholarship Must be enrolled in a minimum of 9 credits in a program at Milwaukee Area Technical College with preference given to but not limited to students enrolled in one of the building construction programs; must have and maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA. Amount: $500 Deadline: October 15
MATC Environmental & Pollution Control Scholarship Must be enrolled full-time in the Environmental and Pollution Control program; must have completed 24 program credits; minimum GPA 2.75. Amount: $500 Deadline: April 15
MATC Executive Women International (EWI) Scholarship Must live within Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Waukesha, Washington or Sheboygan counties; must be 18 years of age or older. Must submit a completed EWI application form available in the Scholarship Clearinghouse. Amount: $1,000 Deadline: February 15, 2008 (for fall, 2008 award)
MATC Stanley Felber Memorial Scholarship Must be enrolled in the Liberal Arts program and in a 200-level English honors course; minimum 2.7 GPA. Amount: $500 Deadline: April 15
MATC Felix Neal Scholarship Applicants must be enrolled in the Diesel and Power train Servicing Diploma Program. Must have successfully completed the first semester of the program. Must have a 2.5 GPA or better. Must meet the standard criteria of federal financial aid as determined by the Federal Student Aid program. Amount: $500 Deadline: April 15/October 15
MATC Five Star Culinary Scholarship This award has been established for the purpose of continuing education in the culinary field. Must be enrolled in Culinary Arts Program or apprenticeship; must have completed one program semester. Student must complete application available from culinary instructors. Amount: $1,500 Deadline: October 15
MATC LLoyd S. Geil Pre-service Teacher Award and Scholarship Must be a TEP student graduating within one semester of application deadline; Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75; Must have passed at least two of the PPST tests; Student must submit a 100-150 word essay outlining qualities they possess that will make them a good teacher. Amount: $500 Deadline: February 15
MATC W. F. Gratton Memorial Scholarship Must be enrolled in first-year Commercial Art program; must meet standard criteria of financial need as determined by the Federal Student Financial Aid program. Amount: $500 Deadline: October 15
MATC Greater Milwaukee Foundation - A&LB Scholarship Must be enrolled in an occupational diploma or associate degree program and have completed 12 program credits at MATC; must be a resident of Milwaukee, Waukesha, Ozaukee, or Washington counties; must meet standard criteria of financial need as determined by the Federal Student Financial Aid program; minimum 2.5 GPA. May be renewed if student continues to meet criteria. Amount: Varies Deadline: October 15 / April 15
MATC Greater Milwaukee Foundation - Dr. and Mrs. Roland S. Cron Scholarship Must be enrolled in the Registered Nursing program at Milwaukee Area Technical College. Applicants must be in good academic standing. Applicants must meet the standard criteria of financial need as determined by guidelines of the Federal Student Financial Aid program. Preference will be given first to students from Milwaukee, Waukesha, Washington or Ozaukee counties, then to students from other areas of Wisconsin. Applicants must submit a completed MATC Foundation scholarship application by the appropriate deadline to be considered for an award. Amount: Varies Deadline: October 15 / April 15
MATC Greater Milwaukee Foundation - Alice C. Helland Scholarship Must be enrolled in a science and/or mathematics program, including computer science field; must meet standard criteria of financial need as determined by the Federal Student Financial Aid program; must be in good academic standing and have a minimum 3.0 GPA; must be female and a Wisconsin resident. Preference should be given to single, female students with a dependent child or children. Amount: Varies Deadline: October 15 / April 15
MATC Greater Milwaukee Foundation - John Ernst Memorial Scholarship Must be enrolled in Culinary Arts, Cook Apprentice*, or Food Preparation Assistant program in at least nine credits; must have completed 12 program credits; must meet standard criteria of financial need as determined by the Federal Student Financial Aid program; minimum 2.5 GPA. (*Apprentice must be enrolled in at least three credits and have completed at least six credits.) Amount: Varies Deadline: April 15
MATC Wyone Haase Scholarship Must be enrolled in the Registered Nursing program; must have completed at least one-half of clinical credits; minimum 3.0 GPA. Amount: Varies Deadline: October 15 / April 15
MATC HCH Miller Park Stadium District Scholarship Must be either a member of a minority group defined as African-American, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, Pacific Islander, Alaskan Native, or female; must be in a construction or construction-related program (see list of eligible programs on application); must be enrolled and accepted in a program carrying a minimum of six credits; must submit two letters of recommendation, one must be from an instructor in their program of study; must meet standard criteria of financial need as determined by the Federal Student Financial Aid program; minimum 2.5 GPA. MATC Sue Ihlenfeld Memorial Culinary Scholarship Must be enrolled in Culinary Arts or Culinary Apprentice program, must be enrolled in at associate degree applicants must be enrolled in at least 9 credits and must have completed 12 program credits; apprentice applicants must have be enrolled in at least 3 credits and must have completed 6 program credits; must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Amount: $500 Deadline: April 15
MATC Daniel Iselin Graphic Design Scholarship Must be enrolled in the Graphic Design Program and have completed 12 program credits; must meet standard criteria of financial need as determined by the Federal Student Financial Aid program; minimum 2.5 GPA Amount: $500 Deadline: October 15
MATC Ferdinand Kniesz International Scholarship Must be an international student with an F-1 or M-1 student visa; must have completed one full semester at MATC; minimum 3.0 GPA. Amount: $1,000 Deadline: October 15 / April 15
MATC Philip Lerman Scholarship Must be a graduate of the MATC Adult High School; must be enrolled in a program and have completed 12 program credits; must be currently enrolled in a minimum of six associate degree or diploma credits; must meet standard criteria of financial need as determined by the Federal Student Financial Aid program; minimum 2.5 GPA. Amount: $750 Deadline: April 15
MATC Maxine Lubenow Study Abroad Scholarship To qualify, students must be registered in a MATC study abroad program (call 414.297.7765 for information about study abroad programs). Awards are limited to MATC students: admitted in a MATC program, currently enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credits, who have completed a minimum of nine (9) MATC credits at the time of application, and who have at a minimum a 2.0 GPA. Awards are one-time, non-renewable and non-transferable for each recipient. Community experience and/or volunteer work do not play a part in the award selection. Amount: Varies Deadline: October 15 / April 15
MATC Demitrio D. Malavenda Culinary Scholarship Must be enrolled in Culinary Arts associate degree program and must have completed 12 program credits. Awards will be made on the basis of performance and financial need. Culinary Arts faculty scholarship committee will determine student awards. Amount: $500 Deadline: October 15
MATC NARI Home Remodeling Scholarship Must be enrolled in a minimum of 9 credits in a program at Milwaukee Area Technical College with preference given to students enrolled in one of the building construction programs such as: Bricklaying and Masonry; Cabinetmaking and Millwork; Carpentry; Electricity; Construction Electricity; Landscape Horticulture; Architectural Technology; Air Conditioning; Refrigeration, and Heating. All applicants must have and maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA. Applicants must submit a completed MATC Foundation Scholarship Application by the appropriate deadline to be considered for an award. Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation from instructors, employers or others who have knowledge of the applicant's skills and abilities. Applicants must verify their level of financial need as evidenced by completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) available in the Milwaukee Area Technical College Financial Aid office (S222). Applicants must be making satisfactory academic progress as defined by MATC?s standards of academic success to be considered for renewal of this scholarship. Applicants must acknowledge the scholarship in writing with a thank you to the donor prior to receipt of the scholarship award. Amount: $500 Deadline: October 15 / April 15
MATC NARI Home Trades Scholarship Must be enrolled full-time in Bricklaying and Masonry; Cabinetmaking and Millwork; Carpentry; Electricity; Construction Electricity; Landscape Horticulture; Architectural Technology; or Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, and Heating program; must meet standard criteria of financial need as determined by the Federal Student Financial Aid program; minimum 2.5 GPA. MATC Maki Nishi Memorial Scholarship Must be a female student enrolled in the Fire or Police Science program in at least 9 credits; must have completed 24 program credits; minimum 2.5 GPA. Preference will be given to females enrolled in Fire Science. Amount: $500 Deadline: April 15
MATC Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide Program Scholarship Must be formally admitted into the Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide program. Can be a first semester student entering the program. Applicants must not be receiving Federal Student Financial Aid. Amount: Varies Deadline: October 15 / April 15
MATC Partners in Excellence Scholarship Must be returning to school after an absence of one year or more; must be currently enrolled in a minimum of six credits; must meet standard criteria of financial need as determined by the Federal Student Financial Aid program; minimum 3.0 GPA to receive the scholarship for a second semester. May be renewed if student continues to meet academic criteria. Amount: $500 Deadline: April 15/October 15
MATC George Parkinson Memorial Scholarship Must be enrolled in a program and have completed 12 program credits at MATC; must meet standard criteria of financial need as determined by the Federal Student Financial Aid program; minimum 2.5 GPA. Amount: $500 Deadline: October 15 / April 15
MATC Donald J. O'Connell Memorial Scholarship Must be enrolled as a first-year Commercial Art program in at least six credits; must meet standard criteria of financial need as determined by the Federal Student Financial Aid program. Preference will be given to students who have graduated from a Milwaukee Public High School and have taken at least one art or art related subject as part of their high school curriculum. Amount: $500 Deadline: April 15
MATC Ev O'Hare Telecasting Scholarship Must be a full-time, first-year student in Television and Video Production program; must have completed 12 program credits. Amount: Varies Deadline: October 15 / April 15
MATC Oliver Memorial Scholarship Must be enrolled in a minimum of 9 credits at MATC; preference given to students enrolled in courses leading to a degree or diploma in the Human Services field. GED or Adult High School graduates entering the first semester of MATC will be considered if career goals will lead to a degree or diploma in that field. Preference is given to minority students defined as Hispanic, Hmong, or Asian and includes low-income Caucasian students residing in the near Southside of Milwaukee. Award is $250 per semester or $500 total per school year. Must have and maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA. Amount: Varies Deadline: October 15 / April 15
MATC PPG Industries Foundation Scholarship Must be enrolled full-time in Chemical Technology program; must be American Indian, African American, Hispanic, Asian, Pacific Islander, Alaskan Native, or female; minimum 2.5 GPA. Amount: $1,000 Deadline: April 15
MATC Laurance Riley Memorial Scholarship Must be enrolled in any 200-level Speech or English course; must be enrolled in minimum six program credits; minimum 2.5 GPA. Amount: Varies Deadline: October 15 / April 15
MATC Donna G. Robinson Memorial Scholarship Must be an African-American female; must have completed 12 program credits; must be currently enrolled in a minimum of six associate degree or diploma credits; must meet standard criteria of financial need as determined by the Federal Student Financial Aid program; minimum 2.5 GPA. Amount: $750 Deadline: April 15
MATC Sal Sanchez Jr. Memorial Culinary Scholarship Must be enrolled in the Culinary Arts program in at least 9 credits or the Culinary Apprentice program in at least 3 credits; Culinary Arts students must have completed 12 credits / Culinary Apprentice students must have completed at least 6 credits; must meet standard criteria of financial need as determined by the Federal Student Financial Aid program; must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Amount: $500 Deadline: October 22
MATC Brian Schmelzer Memorial Must be enrolled in the Airframe and Power Plant program; must have completed the general courses relating to this program and is continuing education in the program; must be taking at least 9 credits; minimum 3.0 GPA. Amount: $500 Deadline: April 15
MATC Seabury Scholarship Must be enrolled in a program and have completed 15 program credits; must meet standard criteria of financial need as determined by the Federal Student Financial Aid program; minimum 2.5 GPA. Program area subject to change annually. Amount: Varies Deadline: October 15 / April 15
MATC JR Emergency Fund The Jack and Lucille Rosenberg Fund is intended to help meet the financial needs of MATC students who encounter an emergency situation or one-time, unusual, or unforeseen expenses during their program. Situations eligible for funding include such events as:
- Theft
- Major accidents and events such as fire and natural disasters
- Expenses related to unforeseen academic costs
Normal living expenses such as rent, car repairs, child care, and utilities are generally not considered emergency situations. Exceptions may be made for extraordinary circumstances. Students must be in good academic standing and students who qualify for need-based financial aid, an emergency award may reduce original loan amounts. Please contact the Office of Financial Aid for help in evaluating your individual circumstances. Applications will be reviewed as needed, but only after they are complete. MATC Khue Vang Memorial Scholarship Must be enrolled in an Information Technology program; must be currently enrolled in a minimum of 9 credits; minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to students of Hmong decent. Amount: $500 Deadline: April 15
MATC Student Access Fund for Emergencies (SAFE) The Student Access Fund for Emergencies (SAFE) is available to MATC students who encounter sudden or unexpected financial trouble. Applicable emergencies may include: utility or housing emergencies, transportation emergencies, replacement books, child care emergencies, computer needs, or inability to pay for required college fees. Students must be in good academic standing and students who qualify for need-based financial aid, an emergency award may reduce original loan amounts. Please contact the Office of Financial Aid for help in evaluating your individual circumstances. Applications will be reviewed as needed, but only after they are complete. MATC Vilter Manufacturing Development Scholarship Must be a student enrolled in one of the following diploma or associate degree programs: Electronic Technology, Welding, Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning; must be enrolled in at least 9 credits; must have a minimum 2.8 GPA; preference will be given to applicants from the following ethnic backgrounds: African American, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, Pacific Islander, Alaskan Native, or female; must meet the standard criteria of financial need as determined by guideline of the Federal Student Financial Aid Program. Amount: $500 Deadline: October 15 and April 15
MATC Violette Parson Weeks Emergency Scholarship Must be an MATC student who has completed six (6) credits at MATC with a current cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher who experience unforeseen expenses which preclude the student from attending classes. Amount: Varies Deadline: as necessary
MATC William J. Weis Scholarship Must be enrolled in a computer related program (e-Commerce/Web administration, Computer Electronics Technology, Computer Information Systems, and Information Security Specialist); must have completed a minimum of 9 credits and be enrolled in a minimum of 9 credits; minimum GPA 2.5; must submit at least one letter of recommendation from an instructor in their program. Amount: Varies Deadline: October 15 / April 15
MATC West Campus Scholarship Must be enrolled in nine credits, of which at least six are taken at West Campus at the time of application. Contact West Campus Student Services for application and deadline. Amount: $500 Deadline: October 15
MATC Clem Wisch Book Loan Scholarship Must be enrolled in a Business program in at least six credits; must not be eligible for Federal Student Financial Aid; minimum 2.5 GPA; for books only. Amount: Varies Deadline: October 15 / April 15
MATC Clem Wisch Marketing Scholarship Must be enrolled in a two-year Marketing program; must have completed 12 program credits; must currently be enrolled in a minimum of six credits; must submit a letter of recommendation from a marketing instructor; minimum 2.5 GPA. Amount: $500 Deadline: October 15
MATC Paul Witzke Memorial Scholarship Must be enrolled in Math 151, 152, 154, or any 200 level Math course with a "B" or better average; must be enrolled in minimum six program credits; minimum 2.5 GPA. Amount: $500 Deadline: April 15
MATC Wargin Memorial Business Scholarship Must be enrolled in a two-year Business program; must have completed 12 program credits; must be a second or third semester student at the time of award; minimum 3.0 GPA. Amount: $1,000 Deadline: October 15 / April 15
MATC Workforce Investment Now (WIN) Scholarship Must be an independent working student, with an adjusted gross annual income of less than $30,000; must be enrolled in a minimum of nine credits; minimum 2.5 GPA; and must have completed FAFSA and not be eligible for state and federal grants. May be renewed if student continues to meet criteria. Amount: $1,000 Deadline: October 15 / April 15
