Liberal Arts and Sciences Degrees
Liberal Arts and Sciences Division — All MATC Campuses

Program code: 20-800-1

This page was last updated in October 2006.

Overview — If you plan to earn a bachelor's degree from a four-year-college or university, you can take your first two years of courses at MATC and transfer your credits. It is important to consult with your advisor and the four-year college you plan to attend about credit transfer and the requirements for your major. See Credit Transfer  for detailed information. Students who don't intend to pursue a bachelor's degree may wish to choose the Liberal Arts and Sciences program to combine liberal studies with electives from other degree and diploma programs.

Academic Requirements — Successful completion of either degree requires a grade-point average of 2.0 (C), with 25% of the credits taken at MATC.

General Education Requirements -- General Education areas for the Associate in Arts and Associate in Science degree include Communication, Social Sciences, Mathematics, Natural Science, Humanitites (including Art) and Physical Education. If you plan to transfer to a four-year institution after you complete a Liberal Arts and Sciences associate degree, inquire with the particular institution about transfer of the courses you plan to complete for the degree.
