Sustainable Operations Certificate
Starting March 2009

A one-semester, nine-credit program that gives you the knowledge to efficiently and effectively manage commercial and industry facilities and save on operations and maintenance by applying sustainability concepts. The certificate also covers energy management systems, maintenance management, Six Sigma, Lean, LEED certification, renewable energy management and training of building service workers. This certificate program is for working professionals and those seeking careers as facility managers, sustainability directors, building superintendents/managers and more.

Courses taught at ECAM:

SUSTN-101 - Sustainable Facilities Operations (3 credits)
Learn to operate and optimize a variety of complex building systems, including training and developing internal and external building service staffs, implementing a green cleaning and recycling system, compose and execute building service contracts.

SUSTN-106 - LEED AP for Green Buildings (3 credits)
Explore how to register a building for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification, understand the LEED rating system and prepare for the LEED Accredited Professional exam.

SUSTN-102 - Reporting and Presenting Systems Performance (3 credits)
Learn to measure and report quantitative operational performance. Course topics include spreadsheets, descriptive statistics, data collection and analysis and more. Also covered within the context of commercial and industrial operational performance includes energy, water, materials and more.
